Skopje, 24 January 2024 (MIA) — Agency for Financial Support of the Agriculture and Rural Development director Nikica Bachovski told a panel at the "Year of European Opportunities" conference held in Skopje that the state was applying to a new IPARD 3 measure for rural public infrastructure support.

The measure would support projects submitted by rural municipalities for building streets, roads, water pipes, sewers, cultural centers, children's playgrounds, parks, etc. The municipalities should receive 100 percent financial support of the investment up to one million euros, Bachovski said.

"Local self-governments will be the direct beneficiaries of the measure," he said, adding that they would need to submit proposals for specific projects.

Noting that the Skopje municipalities of Centar and Aerodrom could not receive any support, he stressed that the measure was intended solely for rural municipalities with no more than 30,000 inhabitants according to the last census. mr/
