Interior Minister Toshkovski meets Turkish Ambassador Ulusoy

Skopje, 29 August 2024 (MIA) - Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski met Thursday with Turkish Ambassador Fatih Ulusoy.
The meeting confirmed that Turkey is one of our closest partners and an important NATO ally, and that the mutual long-standing friendly and partnership relationship is characterized with a strong economic trade, security, and cultural cooperation, to which both countries remain committed to, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.
Minister Toshkovski expressed gratitude for the fast response in dealing with the forest fires, as Turkey was the first country to send two airplanes and one helicopter, which assisted in putting out the fires.
"The meeting focused on the security cooperation agreement between the Macedonian and Turkish governments, which is in its final stage, which aims to create space for intensifying cooperation in the fight against terrorism, transnational organized crime, and illegal migration. Interlocutors also discussed the initiative of the Interior Ministry for strengthening cooperation between the police training centers in both countries, as well as continuing the excellent cooperation with the Turkish police academy that provides scholarships to Macedonian students studying security, including graduate and postgraduate Interior Ministry members," the press release reads. ssh/ba/
