Interest in visiting new tour destinations in North Macedonia grows
Skopje, 22 August 2022 (MIA) - The pandemic inspired many domestic tourists to explore and discover new, unknown destinations across the country, and this trend continues to grow, according to kayak.mk, a platform that promotes domestic tourism.
Kayak.mk says that a new record number of destination searches has been registered on their platform. July and August are the months when many domestic tourists have searched for weekend destinations and ways to fill their time with outdoor activities. Most of the searches are for villages and less-known places on the tourist map.
The kayak.mk team adds that the reason behind the increased interest in visiting these rural, mountain and lake destinations is the habits people have garnered during the pandemic. The citizens are seeking ways to use their free time for outdoor activities, visiting new villages, hiking, enjoying the view of mountain rivers etc. alongside traveling abroad for holidays.
The platform offers accommodation facilities throughout the country, as well as wineries, restaurants and families offering gastronomical experiences, as well as kayaking, paragliding etc.
Kayak.mk says that the trend of renting and staying in facilities isolated in nature, where one can stay for a longer period of time, is also increasing. The people showing interest are those who work online, seeking ways to replace office work with working in nature.
According to the stats, most searches are by people aged 25-35, generations which most often share their impressions and experiences onto the platform, which is a positive influence when it comes to improving the quality of domestic tourism. dk/nn/
