Institutions are there to serve citizens’ interest: Police Day – May 7
Delchevo, 7 May 2022 (MIA) – A central event to celebrate Police Day – May 7 was held in Delchevo on Saturday under the motto “MoI for the citizens” and promoting the concept “Police in the service of the citizens.” Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi, Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski, as well as other ministers and government officials, representatives of embassies in North Macedonia, police chiefs from countries in the region, retired police members, families of police members who died on duty, MPs and representatives of other institutions attended the event. Minister Spasovski presented plaques for successfully implemented operations and best results achieved within the Ministry of Interior in 2021. In his address he pointed out, among other, that institutions are only there to serve citizens’ interest, regardless of their personal commitments and views, there are modern standards set to fully implement the institution’s key position, i.e. police – service to the citizens of North Macedonia. “Consistently staying in sync with the pulse of time, regional and global political and security trends, as well as the needs and expectations of the citizens, from the current perspective we can safely conclude that the Ministry of Interior, all its organizational units are already established not only as citizens’ service and partner, but also respectable partner that is actively engaged in many regional and international initiatives, associations and projects in almost all areas in the sphere of security,” said Spasovski. Spasovski sent a message that the police can and must remain consistent on the path of uncompromising observance of law and order, and of course, the safety and security of all citizens. Xhaferi congratulated Police Day and urged all police members to always be there for citizens in need. “I’m deeply convinced that mutual trust and cooperation, while remaining on the right side of law, will contribute to having safer streets, more democratic and more just institutions that will in no way lag behind the high-standard European police forces. North Macedonia’s Parliament will continue to be open to your proposals, suggestions and legal changes aimed at improving the efficiency of the Ministry of Interior, towards improving our status,”  Xhaferi said. At the event, police officers demonstrated their equipment and vehicles, resources and skills, giving local citizens the opportunity to socialize with them and learn about the profession. The event’s program also included concerts and different performances.
