Skopje, 17 February 2025 (MIA) – Health authorities have introduced a ban on visiting hospitalized patients and mandated wearing respirator masks and disinfecting hands in health care facilities to prevent hospital-acquired infections, the Ministry of Health said in a press release Monday.

According to the release, the protective measures are being reintroduced at the recommendation of the Infectious Diseases Commission because of "seasonal flu cases peaking" nationwide. 

The ban on visitors and the mask mandate in health care facilities is of "exceptional importance for the health of patients and healthcare workers," the release says. 

"The Infectious Diseases Commission continues monitoring the epidemiological situation in the country," the release adds. mr/
