New York, 16 September 2025 (dpa/MIA) - Robert Redford, the iconic actor known for classic films like "The Sting" and "All the President's Men," has died at the age of 89, his publicist Cindi Berger said on Tuesday.
"Robert Redford passed away on September 16, 2025, at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah -- the place he loved, surrounded by those he loved," Berger said in a statement.
Born in Santa Monica, California, on the outskirts of the film metropolis, Redford rose to Hollywood fame more than 50 years ago playing a charming crook in the comedy "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."
"He will be missed greatly. The family requests privacy," the statement added.
