Skopje, 23 June 2024 (MIA) - A thunderstorm accompanied by heavy rain, strong wind and hail in some places hit Skopje on Sunday.

The Crisis Management Center (CMC) via the 112 emergency number has received about 70 reports mostly about fallen trees in the municipalities of Aerodrom, Gazi Baba and Centar. There are also reports of flooded basements and streets in Butel and Gjorche Petrov. All reports have been transferred to competent institutions.

The CMC also notes that a part of a fence along with an advertising billboard from the railway bridge in Avtokomanda has fallen on two vehicles. The CMC adds that it has no information about injured persons so far.

Parts of the capital also saw brief power outages due to the storm. 

Earlier on Sunday, the Tetovo region was also hit by heavy rain, thunder, strong wind and hail. 

Other towns and cities were also hit by heavy rain on Sunday, causing landslides and traffic diversions in some parts of the country.
