Skopje, 10 December 2024 (MIA) – Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Tuesday U.S. Department of State’s designation of former deputy prime minister Artan Grubi and Enver Bexheti, Court of Appeals judge, for their involvement in significant corruption is a confirmation by the strategic partners of high corruption, which VMRO-DPMNE warned about even when it was in opposition.
This is only the beginning of many such cases expected to be revealed to the public soon, he stressed.
Asked at today’s news conference to comment on the high corruption case, revealed by the United States, and on the arrests of former managers of the power plants ESM and REK Bitola, suspected of misusing public procurements, PM Mickoski said most of the evidence has been collected to back up the accusations.
The U.S. Department of State has designated former deputy prime minister of North Macedonia, Artan Grubi, and Enver Bexheti, Court of Appeals judge, for their involvement in significant corruption.
According to Monday’s press release, Grubi and Bexheti had accepted bribes to undermine judicial processes tied to the criminal conviction of Sasho Mijalkov, director of North Macedonia’s Administration for Security and Counterintelligence (UBK).
