Grubi – Baluku: Corridor 8 construction highly important for entire region

Skopje, 30 May 2023 (MIA) — First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Political System and Inter-Community Relations Artan Grubi and Albanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku met Tuesday to discuss regional infrastructure and energy projects, the path to EU membership and recent developments in the region, including in the north of Kosovo.
According to a press release from Grubi's office, Grubi and Belluku talked about joint projects, putting special emphasis on the Corridor 8 construction. They said the implementation of the ambitious project was to be a great achievement not only for North Macedonia and Albania but also for the entire region.
The two deputy PMs also discussed the railway connection between Skopje and Durres, the Struga dry port project, and the new border crossing between the two countries.
Together on the European integration path and both NATO allies, the countries are committed to rapidly completing the negotiations and accession process with the EU by implementing the required reforms and obligations, Grubi and Balluku agreed.
Speaking about the latest developments in the north of Kosovo, they called for peace and for the parties to continue the dialogue after reaching an agreement in Ohrid and to finalize it with mutual recognition, the release says. mr/
