Grkovska: Digital development must be inclusive and ensure equal opportunities for all

Skopje, 28 November 2023 (MIA) – Deputy Prime Minister in charge of good governance policies, Slavica Grkovska, is participating in the first Global Conference on Cyber Capacity Building (GC3B) 2023 on the topic “Cyber Resilience for Development”, which is being held in Accra, Ghana on November 29 and 30.

According to a government press release, ahead of the official opening of the event, Deputy PM Grkovska, gave an introductory address at a working lunch in Accra focused on the role of women in cyber capacity building.

“Traditionally, women are inadequately represented in the technological and cybersecurity sector, not only in politics. Not only does the inadequate representation hinder the progress of gender equality, but also leads to missed opportunities in innovations and problem-solving. Encouraging and supporting women to progress in this field is of vital importance, but we also must fiercely oppose all stereotypes regarding this issue,” stressed Deputy PM Grkovska.

The Deputy PM added that when it comes to digital development, it is essential to ensure an inclusive workforce, which, she said, would strengthen women and ensure equal opportunities.

“As a woman with long experience in politics, and as a mathematician, I firmly believe in the need of a fully inclusive and strategic approach in the creation of sustainable policies,” said Grkovska.

The Deputy PM noted that the digital transformation of society is a process that must include everyone.

“When we speak about digitization we must also speak about cybersecurity, because without an efficient protection system, the citizens won’t have trust in these processes,” stressed Grkovska.

Deputy PM Grkovska will address and participate in several panels and events at the Global Conference on Cyber Capacity Building 2023, organized by the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE), alongside the World Bank, World Economic Forum (WEF), and the CyberPeace Institute.

Last November North Macedonia became the 103rd member of the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE), joining the countries actively striving to improve their cyber capacities and security.
