Grkovska: Balancer instrument abused, model fitting for current circumstances required
Skopje, 24 September 2022 (MIA) – Deputy PM for good governance policies Slavica Grkovska says the principle of fair representation has played an important role and gave a chance to many to get a job in the public administration. However, the instrument is increasingly abused and a model is required that fits the current circumstances. “Over a certain period, especially after the Ohrid Framework Agreement, the balancer, namely the principle of fair representation in institutions, played an important role and gave a chance to many to get a job in the public administration. However, as time goes by and its abuse increases, it is obvious that it has already played its role. I believe we should find a module that fits the current circumstances,” Deputy PM Grkovska told TV Alsat-M. She adds that North Macedonia is currently in a stage that requires more quality and professionalism in the public administration. “We have started the EU negotiations process, and the screening will bring all weaknesses to surface. We have to undertake measures that will be painful for the society, because the screening will be brutally realistic and no one will spare us,” says Grkovska. On the introduction of an e-ID, she says it would lower the corruption risk. “It is unimaginable to talk about digital transformation of the society if the e-ID is not introduced, which represents the basic tool for digitization of services within a society, both in the public and private domain,” says Grkovska.
