Skopje, 28 April 2023 (MIA) – Deputy PM for Good Governance Policies, Slavica Grkovska, met Friday with the newly appointed German Ambassador Petra Drexler, expressing gratitude for the continuous German support to North Macedonia over the past few decades, including the expert support to her Office.

Deputy PM Grkovska briefed Ambassador Drexler on activities related to anti-corruption, transparency and institutional effectiveness, as well as the digital transformation of society, the three fundamental pillars of her mandate, her Office said in a press release.

Ambassador Drexler emphasized there is willingness and preparedness to continue and increase the close cooperation between both countries, emphasizing that Germany fully supports North Macedonia’s accession to the EU.

Deputy PM Grkovska said the EU was not created to deal with the past but the future, and that the current political obstacles and challenges must not lead to the development of nationalism and populism in the country and region.

Interlocutors discussed other current affairs, focusing on the state of the judicial system, where changes must occur so that the fight against corruption can be effective, for the country to progress in the fulfillment of its strategic goals.
