Skopje, 30 April 2025 (MIA) - The Government would function normally and have a majority of almost two-thirds in Parliament, said VMRO-DPMNE MP Bojan Stojanoski Wednesday, quizzed by journalists about Alliance for Albanians’ MP Halil Snopche statement that if AA is not part of the government, it would mean "a need for new parliamentary elections".
“On several occasions we have said that the [ruling] majority is officially two-thirds or over 80 MPs. I assure you that despite this, if this happens, the Government will function in a completely normal way and better than before. We are ready for early elections at any moment, but they won’t be held alongside the local elections,” Stojanoski told journalists.
The VMRO-DPMNE MP said the party’s parliamentary group wouldn’t back SDSM’s proposal for a draft-law in support of the families affected by the nightclub fire in Kochani.
“What is indicative here is the fact that [SDSM leader] Venko Filipche is proposing such a law to help these people now, while they failed to propose such a law for all those people who lost their lives in the fire at the modular hospital, and the people who lost their lives in the tragedies in Laskarci and Bulgaria. So, the answer to this question is clear, the families of the dead and injured will have the full support of the Government,” Stojanoski said.
According to Stojanoski, the VMRO-DPMNE-led Government would “double or triple” the funds allocated for all municipalities in order to help the Municipality of Kochani.
“At the same time, negotiations are being led with several investors who have decided to invest in the Republic of Macedonia to build their capacities in the industrial zone in Kochani. I also want to remind that the Government is covering the expenses of those receiving treatment abroad, but it will also continue to help the injured and the families of the dead,” Stojanoski said.
The VLEN (Worth It) coalition declared Tuesday a moratorium on all public political activities of the parties that make up the coalition, noting that they will now act as a single political entity.
Halil Snopche, MP from the Alliance for Albanians (AA) bloc of Arben Taravari, said representatives of the party had not been invited to yesterday's meeting of the ruling VLEN coalition.
