Skopje, 12 October 2024 (MIA) – The October salary of elementary and high school teachers will raise by five percent, Jakim Nedelkov, president of the Independent Trade Union of Education, Science and Culture (SONK), confirmed Saturday at a news conference alongside Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski.
“We also agreed a continuous increase in the salaries of elementary and high school teachers in a four-year period,” said Nedelkov.
He called the raise a great success in the talks, in the social dialogue and partnership. “It is also a proof that through mutual respect and understanding as social partners, we can find acceptable solutions,” Nedelkov stressed.
Speaking at a news conference after his meeting with SONK’s Nedelkov, Mickoski said they wanted to reach an agreement following weeks-long talks and analyses that will be long-term, aiming at improving the financial situation of teachers.
