Skopje, 6 April 2023 (MIA) - The Government will hold a coordination meeting on Thursday afternoon regarding the decision to freeze the prices of fruit and vegetables. The Prime Minister has convened the meeting, which will be attended by the Minister of Economy, directors of the Public Revenue Office, Customs Administration and the Financial Police.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi called on importers of fruit and vegetables to attend the meeting.
"The decision came into force as of yesterday. I thank the supermarket chains and call upon the fruits and vegetables importers to attend this meeting because laws in our country will be fully complied with, starting from the Customs Administration, the Public Revenue Office, the invoices they've given to customs in other countries and the double invoices they've provided to our customs. When the meeting ends, and we have all the information, I will hand them to the authorities," Bekteshi said.
In response to why beans and lentils are being taken away from retail shelves, Bekteshi said that the things that have been imported have to be sold.
"There is a huge difference in import prices from March 28 until today, so the importers and authorities have a lot to consider," Bekteshi said. dk/nn/
