Gov’t to continue to subsidize heating in Skopje throughout state of crisis

Skopje, 4 November 2022 (MIA) – The Government at a session on Friday decided to continue to subsidize household heating bills amid a state of crisis in the heating supply.

This decision for the new heating season is aimed at protecting households from higher heating energy price, the Government said in a press release.   “The financial support measure is planned to be implemented in accordance with the mutual rights and obligations as laid down in the agreements concluded between the State-owned Electricity Production Joint Stock Company ESM, Skopje, and the license holders for the supply of heating energy in the area of the city of Skopje. The measure refers to the period of time from the date of entry into force of this decision - until the expiration of the declared state of crisis in the supply of heating energy,” reads the press release.   About 60,000 households are connected to the central heating system in Skopje. The heating season lasts from October 15 to April 30.
