Skopje, 15 February 2023 (MIA) - The government at its session on Wednesday, upon the proposal of the Ministry of Finance, approved the report on establishing a track & trace system for monitoring and control of tobacco products and track & trace system for monitoring and control of oil and oil derivatives, with recommendations for the method of implementation in the Republic of North Macedonia.

“The system for monitoring and controlling tobacco products aims to ensure monitoring and control of tobacco products in all phases of their movement, from production, through the distribution phase, to the first retail outlet,” the government said in a press release.

The EU Track & Trace system for tobacco products is regulated by a directive and regulations which are mandatory to be applied by the EU member states and which implement the provisions of the protocol to eliminate illicit trade in tobacco products of the World Health Organization, reads the press release.
