Gov’t repurposes Ponivka resort into rehabilitation facility for Kochani nightclub fire victims 

Skopje, 10 June 2025 (MIA) - At a session Tuesday the Government adopted a decision repurposing the Ponikva resort near Kochani into a facility for the rehabilitation of the people injured in the Kochani nightclub fire.

In a press release the Government said the initiative will contribute to a physical recovery as well as to a “psychosocial stabilization of the injured, accelerating their return to everyday life”.

“In order to ensure continuity in the care and rehabilitation of the patients we would like to state that the plan, schedule, implementation method for extended medical rehabilitation, as well as the provision of the appropriate medical teams will be prepared by the PHI General Hospital in Kochani in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, public health institutions involved in the treatment and rehabilitation of injured patients, and in accordance with the needs and condition of the patients and their families,” the Government said.

It added that the expenses for the accommodation and meals of the patients, as well as the meals for the medical staff, will be covered by the Interior Ministry.

Nearly 200 people were injured in the fire that broke out at the "Pulse" nightclub in Kochani on March 16 and claimed the lives of 62 people.
