Gov’t launches ‘European future, closer than ever’ media campaign

Skopje, 19 December 2023 (MIA) – The Government is launching Tuesday a media campaign aimed at informing the public about the benefits of the Euro-integration process and EU membership. The campaign, said the Government in a press release, will also allow for a better understanding of reforms related to Euro-integrations and European values.

According to the press release, under the slogan “European future, closer than ever” and using panel discussions, informative videos, animations, billboards and digital content on social media, the Government will provide the citizens with information about the benefits of the Euro-integration process, as well as EU membership.

The Government said the campaign will focus on five areas – economy; agriculture; environment and resources; democracy and rule of law; and youth, consequently, “it will focus on the changes achieved with European assistance in the process of implementation of reforms and fulfillment of European standards”.

“The Government of the Republic of North Macedonia is committed to the European path and the fulfillment of the strategic goal – full-fledged EU membership. With the support of the European Union, the Government has so far implemented numerous projects in concrete areas that are directly focused on improving the lives of the citizens. The assistance for agriculture through the IPARD programs, investments in sustainable and green energy, opportunities for young people to acquire European knowledge and skills through mobility programs are only a portion of the advantages of the Euro-integration process,” said the Government.

The campaign also aims to present the opportunities that will emerge after the country’s accession to the European Union.

“With its EU membership, North Macedonia will receive greater access to EU funds and access to the European market, which is of essential importance for the domestic economy and the living standard of the citizens. Analyses show that the finances from the European funds are 11 times greater for a member state, compared to the ones available to the candidate states,” noted the Government,

In the press release, the Government added that the Euro-integrations and EU membership also bring non-economic benefits, such as the development of democracy and greater protection of human rights and freedoms.

“By raising awareness, providing accurate and precise information, and improving the understanding of the reform processes, the campaign contributes towards the creation of broad support for the fulfillment of the strategic goal – North Macedonia’s membership into the European Union,” said the Government in the press release.
