Gov’t grants overflight fees exemption to aircrafts of Serbia, Montenegro and Romania
Skopje, 9 August 2021 (MIA) – The government during its 98th session held via video conference on Monday adopted a decision to exempt military and police aircrafts of Serbia, Montenegro and Romania from paying overflight fees for using air navigation services in North Macedonia.
The countries are exempted from paying for overflight and terminal services for military and police aircrafts as they provide assistance in putting out wildfires in the country, the government said in a press release.
“The decision at the request of the Protection and Rescue Directorate is aimed at facilitating the procedures for the arrival of foreign aid by aircrafts and shortening the time for deployment and action in fire-hit areas,” reads the press release.
Moreover, the government reviewed and adopted the report on the negotiations for signing the agreement on military financial cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia for the implementation of financial support in the amount of 100,000,000 Turkish lira (US$ 11.5 million).
The funds are intended for the procurement of necessary products and services for military purposes (the allocated funds will be used for the procurement of equipment for the Special Operations Forces, procurement of vehicles and equipment for logistics units) from local companies in Turkey, primarily Turkish defence industry companies, reads the government’s press release.
