Skopje, 18 August 2023 (MIA) – A delegation from the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, led by Deputy Prime Minister in charge of good governance policies Slavica Grkovska, marked the Day of the Army by laying wreaths Friday at the Partisan Cemeteries in Butel, at the graves of General Mihajlo Apostolski, and former presidents and supreme leaders of the Army, Kiro Gligorov and Boris Trajkovski, said the Government in a press release.

In the press release the Government noted that on this day in 1943, the first partisan division, battalion “Mirche Acev”, was established on Slavej Mountain, as the first regular military unit in the National Liberation War, which grew into a liberation army and established itself as a part of the foundations of the Macedonian state.

“Today, the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia is an institution which enjoys the highest trust of the citizens and which continuously demonstrates professionalism and preparedness in its actions in line with NATO standards. The Army actively contributes in dealing with modern challenges and protecting global peace and security by participating in international peace missions,” said the press release.
