Gov't calls anti-corruption commission's decision on PM son’s trip to US "expected and reasonable"

Skopje, 9 October 2024 (MIA) - The Government deems the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption's decision for dismissing the lawsuit about the Prime Minister son's trip to the United States to be expected and reasonable.
Government spokesperson Marija Miteva said Wednesday that they expect an apology for any speculations related to the case.
"The decision was expected and reasonable, which once again confirms the way the Government functions, and that is respect for the Constitution and the laws. The source of the speculations is now clear, and we believe that an apology to be issued at least," Miteva said in response to journalists' questions at the first press conference since assuming the post.
The State Commission for Prevention of Corruption informed today that they dismissed the lawsuit regarding the PM son's trip after documentation check confirmed no violation of the provisions on the law on prevention of corruption and conflict of interests, i.e. budgetary funds were not used for private purposes. According to the Commission, or the hotel accommodation of the members of the state delegation in the US, the PM’s son did not stay in the same hotels, but in apartment accommodation, which was not included in the invoice of the delegation of the Republic of North Macedonia. ssh/ba/
