Skopje, 17 August 2026 (MIA) - A government delegation composed of the Minister of Defense Vlado Misajlovski, Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski, and Minister of Social Policy Gjoko Velkovski, alongside an army delegation, laid flowers on Monday at the Partisan Cemetery in Skopje ahead of Aug. 18 – Army Day.

In a social media post, Defense Minister Misajlovski said the delegations also laid wreaths at the graves of former presidents Boris Trajkovski and Kiro Gligorov, as well as General Mihailo Apostolski.

“On occasion of August 18 – the day of the establishment of the Macedonian Army, we paid our respects to the fighters who laid down their lives for a free and independent Macedonia. With military honors we laid fresh flowers at the Partisan Cemetery and the resting places of former presidents Boris Trajkovski and Kiro Gligorov, as well as General Mihailo Apostolski. Their sacrifice and their work are part of our history, and it is our duty to preserve their memory,” Misajlovski wrote in a post on his official Facebook page.
