Gov’t allows indoor events to be held with up to 30% capacity, outdoor events with up to 50% capacity
Skopje, 24 August 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia’s government decided at its Tuesday session to make changes and additions to the measures aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19, thus allowing organization of sporting and culture events, concerts, seminars and workshops, as well as activities in restaurants, cafes, betting shops, etc. in indoor areas at up to 30% capacity and outdoor areas at up to 50% capacity, in line with COVID-19 measures and protocols and mandatory proof of vaccination with at least one dose or a certificate showing a person has recovered from COVID-19 within the past 45 days. Weddings, birthday celebrations and other private events remain banned in the indoor areas of hospitality facilities. Mandatory proof of vaccination with at least one dose or a certificate showing a person has recovered from COVID-19 within the past 45 days also remains in force for patrons of restaurants, cafes and bars, regardless of their capacity and the number of customers present. The same measure applies for all events, as well as malls. Moreover, a security service should control if proof of vaccination is presented upon entry in any type of venue, including catering facilities, where more than 30 people attend any event. If there are less than 30 people present at the venue, it’s up to employees to check for COVID-19 certificates. Other events can be held indoor with up to 30% capacity, but no more than 1,000 people who hold the above mentioned COVID-19 documents. The government also adopted on Tuesday the plan for organizing classes at elementary schools and high schools in the 2021/2022 school year, as well as protocols for in-person learning.
