Gov't adopts report on cooperation agreement between Railway Infrastructure and Crossrail International Limited

Skopje, 23 September 2025 (MIA) – The Government at its session on Tuesday reviewed and adopted a report on concluding a cooperation agreement between the Public Enterprise for Railway Infrastructure - Skopje and the public body of the United Kingdom Government's Department of Transport, Crossrail International Limited.

The cooperation agreement establishes a framework by which the parties reaffirm their readiness and commitment to cooperate through sharing expertise, experiences, good practices, and lessons learned in supporting projects of the Public Enterprise for Railway Infrastructure - Skopje, with a particular emphasis on high-speed railways, as well as freight rail traffic, signalling and control systems, infrastructure upgrades, depots and railway rolling stock, the Government said in a press release.

"The cooperation agreement is valid for 5 years, with the possibility of extension for an additional five years. This agreement stems from the cooperation established so far between the Macedonian Government and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, regarding the partnership for the implementation of priority infrastructure projects," reads the press release.

At its session on Tuesday, it adds, the Government reviewed a report on the need for subsidizing chimney filters for households and tasked the Office of the Prime Minister to prepare in the coming period a detailed analysis providing the conditions, duration, and procedure for publishing an announcement for subsidies for chimney filters for households that use fossil fuels, i.e. wood, for heating.
