Government approves agreement on construction of Corridors 8 and 10d

Skopje, 7 March 2023 (MIA) - The Government has approved the agreement on construction of four motorway sections within Corridors 8 and 10d, the Office of First Deputy PM Artan Grubi said on Tuesday.
The agreement is approved after month-long negotiations between I"RD Engineering", the Government's consultant on financial transactions, and international consortium "Bechtel Enka".
Corridor 8 is 68 km long, including six-lane motorway section Tetovo-Gostivar-Kichevo, through Struga up to Kjafasan, while Corridor 10d includes 40 km-long six-lane motorway section Prilep-Bitola. The construction period is three years from the launch of works. The realization of this largest capital investment in the country's history will contribute to its economy, modernization of the road infrastructure, along with additional development of services and improved conditions for development of businesses, but also improved quality of life, ties with neighbors and international corridors, reads the press release.
Last year, the Government signed a memorandum of cooperation with "Bechtel Enka" and the Parliament adopted a law on identifying public interest and the consortium's nomination for strategic partner in the project.
On February 2, the Government and Italian "IRD Engineering" signed an agreement for supervision and legal transaction advisor for the four motorway sections at a total length of 123 km - Trebenishta-Struga-Kjafasan (22,5 km), Gostivar-Bukojchani (30.1 km), Tetovo-Gostivar (27 km), Prilep-Bitola (43.4 km).
