Skopje, 10 November 2025 (MIA) – Skopje Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski met Monday with Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski.
Gjorgjievski called the meeting “constructive” saying they discussed joint projects that are considered beneficial for the residents of Skopje.
“We’re developing Skopje together! The focal point of the meeting was improvement of the transport system by implementing the City Train project, procurement of new eco-buses for public transportation as well as modernization of Skopje’s infrastructure. Minister Nikoloski underscored the government’s strong commitment to implementing capital investments in the capital as the backbone for its future development,” Gjorgjievski wrote in a Facebook post.
It was concluded, according to him, that Skopje needs a new plan to transform the city transport system so as to make it more efficient, economic and improve the quality of live of its residents.
“After launching construction works on the first of the three lines for the City Train, the next priority will be the preparation of the other two lines towards Gjorce Petrov and Miladinovci. The City of Skopje is already in communication with the Government of the Republic of Macedonia for the procurement of new eco buses that will significantly raise public transport to a high level. I sincerely express my gratitude to Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski and the entire Government for their constant support and vision. We will develop Skopje together, with work, with dedication and with a clear goal - to build a modern and functional city in which we will all live better,” wrote the mayor.
