Gjorgjievski visits Gazi Baba, presents infrastructure projects to reduce traffic congestion

Skopje, 2 October 2025 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE's candidate for Skopje Mayor, Orce Gjorgjievski, visited the Municipality of Gazi Baba on Thursday, where he spoke about several of his planned projects including the construction of the interchange in Hipodrom, a third lane on the “Aleksandar Makedonski” boulevard and the first stage of the “Hrvatska” boulevard.

Gjorgjievski said the construction of the interchange in Hipodrom and the third lane on the “Aleksandar Makedonski” boulevard would enable a significant increase in the flow of vehicles and their redirection to Gazi Baba.

“The Hipodrom interchange will enable a direct connection to the ‘Proletna Ofanziva’ street which is most frequently used by motorists coming from Kumanovo and Veles and in that way we will eliminate the long queues at the entrance of Skopje. At the same time, through the ‘Aleksandar Makedonski’ boulevard we will enable a fast and efficient flow of vehicles towards Avtokomanda, reducing congestion in the entire eastern part of the city. Not only will this help solve everyday congestion, but it will also modernize the urban infrastructure and facilitate access to industrial and residential zones,” Gjorgjievski said.

Gjorgjievski also spoke about the construction of the first stage of boulevard “Hrvatska” which he said would establish a strategic connection between the municipalities of Gazi Baba, Butel, and Chair, creating new opportunities for local connectivity, economic development, and integration of European standards in traffic planning.

“With the realization of these significant infrastructural projects, the congestion in the eastern part of the city, which is also the entrance to Skopje, will be relieved. We will create fast, functional, and safe connections between municipalities, we will make the everyday life of the citizens easier and set new standards for urban and traffic planning,” the VMRO-DPMNE candidate said.

The mayoral candidate also said the citizens of Skopje would get a new amusement park by July 2027, and that the city’s aqua park would become functional next spring.

The VMRO-DPMNE candidate stressed that Skopje has beautiful places that simply need to regain their true shine but noted that his top priorities will be cleaning the city of waste and normalizing public transportation.

“Skopje has beautiful places that simply need to regain their true shine. They’ve been neglected for years, and no one pays attention. Our people have been put in a position where they can’t enjoy what the city offers the way they should. I always emphasize in my addresses, especially to the media, that the citizens of Skopje pay for all of this properly. Skopje’s residents are disciplined people who love their city and pay their bills on time, whether it’s for municipal fees, property taxes, or any other obligation to the City of Skopje, they pay responsibly. The city should respond in kind. My first serious priorities are to clean the city within the first 72 hours. We have a major challenge with the Public Transport enterprise, and we need to normalize public transport because winter is coming, and people will be left waiting for buses in the cold for hours. We must first stabilize those conditions,” Gjorgjievski said.
