Gjorgjievski presents plans for roundabout and infrastructure projects in Butel

Skopje, 7 October 2025 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE's mayoral candidate for Skopje, Orce Gjorgjievski, presented plans for a series of infrastructure projects while on a visit to the Municipality of Butel on Tuesday. The projects, he said, are a part of a systemic vision for a safe, functional, and modern Skopje.

Gjorgjievski highlighted the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of “Butelska” and “Aleksandar Urdarevski” streets as the most significant project, which, he said, is expected to greatly improve traffic safety in this part of the city.

“The roundabout that will be constructed here will mean an end to traffic chaos and a significant reduction of the risk of accidents. This is one of the busiest points in Butel, since the ‘Aleksandar Urdarevski’ street is used by thousands of citizens daily, especially due to the proximity to the city cemetery,” Gjorgjievski said.

In addition to the roundabout, Gjorgjievski also presented plans for a complete reconstruction of "Butelska" and "Radishanska" streets, including new asphalt, improved drainage, pedestrian walkways, and modern street lighting. He stressed that before construction begins, a stormwater drainage system will be installed, which will resolve the long-standing issue of flooding during heavy rains.

VMRO-DPMNE's mayoral candidate also spoke of plans for the construction of a mega park alongside the “Hristijan Todorovski Karposh” boulevard, a third lane on the “Cvetan Dimov” boulevard in the Municipality of Chair, as well as the construction of “Hrvatska” boulevard in the Municipality of Gazi Baba.

Among the most significant and long-term projects, Gjorgjievski underscored plans to revitalize the Serava River and establish green corridors along its length.

“This intervention will restore the entire river zone, arranging it with pedestrian and bicycle paths, native vegetation, and public amenities. Serava will become a clean, safe, and accessible area that will improve the quality of life for the residents of Butel and the entire city,” Gjorgjievski said.

Incumbent Butel Mayor and VMRO-DPMNE's candidate for reelection Darko Kostovski at the press conference alongside Gjorgjievski spoke of projects realized during his term, and presented plans for the construction of indoor swimming pools, a cultural center, three new kindergartens, two new schools, as well as 150 new streets.
