Skopje, 9 October 2025 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE's Skopje mayor candidate, Orce Gjorgjievski, announced a new project on Thursday, noting that it will change the city's traffic future.
"This project is not just part of my program, but a real turning point for the central city area. This is a key project that will completely ease traffic congestion in the centre of Skopje. The new roundabout at "Nova Makedonija" and the two roundabouts at "Kocho Racin" Boulevard and "Zheleznichka" Street will bring safer traffic flow and smart traffic solutions according to European standards," said Gjorgjievski.
He pointed out that with the launch of the underground road at the Limak residential complex, Skopje will get the first such road to reduce traffic congestion

"It will have six lanes, of which four intended for two-way car traffic and two for buses, as well as additional pavements. The Limak underground road will enable smooth traffic, and downtown congestion will be significantly reduced, which will make movement throughout the city much more comfortable and safer. I believe we will also succeed in achieving congestion-free city centre," said Gjorgjievski.
He noted that his program includes another capital solution, by which Dame Gruev Street will be converted into a boulevard. "Although there are challenges related to the "Makoteks" building, we have a clear plan for a legal and technical solution. With the implementation of this project, congestion in the central city area will be almost completely reduced, creating a modern, urban and flowing space that will transform the daily movement of citizens," Gjorgjievski said.
As regards parking space, Gjorgjievski said the issue will be significantly improved with the construction of a modern European-type multi-storey car park on the site of the dilapidated barracks and the existing car park in Bunjakovec. In addition, car parks in Kapishtec and near Kale will provide residents with much more convenient access to parking.

Gjorgjievski called on citizens to support ZNAM Centar mayor candidate Miroslav Labudovikj. Labudovikj pointed out that, together, they have a vision of how the city and Centar Municipality should look. He said work will be done and in four years improvement will be visible in quality in terms of hygiene, safety, inclusion of young people in all segments, etc.
"Orce mentioned some of the projects. The municipality will have maximum support, with maximum mutual coordination and cooperation, and we will make the city a much better place to live in. The citizens of Centar and Skopje expect changes, and changes will happen, including organized public transportation, more parking space, smart parking systems. We are talking about order and ending the chaos that is happening to us at this moment," said Labudovikj.
He added that work is under way on projects for a new municipal building, new kindergartens and primary schools, as well as inclusion of young people in sports and culture.
