GDP up 1.2 percent in Q1 of 2024: statistics

Skopje, 3 June 2024 (MIA) - The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 1.2 percent in the first quarter (Q1) of 2024, said the State Statistical Office.
In this quarter of 2024, bigger increase was recorded in sections: R, S and T - Arts, entertainment and recreation; Other service activities; Activities of households as employers; undifferentiated goods- and services-producing activities of households for own use by 19.6%, M and N - Professional, scientific and technical activities; administrative and support service activities by 7.5% and G, H and I - Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles; Transportation and storage; Accommodation and food service activities by 6.9%.
Household final consumption, including Non-profit institutions serving households, increased by 4.8% in
nominal terms, and its share in the GDP structure was 72.0%.
In the same period, Export of goods and services decreased by 6.0% in nominal terms, while import of goods and services increased by 0.5%.
Gross capital formation in the first quarter of 2024 registered the increase in gross fixed capital formation (in machinery and equipment and in transport equipment) and in changes in inventories too.
