Gashi: No-confidence motions against five Judicial Council members on Parliament's agenda in March

Skopje, 28 February 2025 (MIA) – Parliament is expected in the first half of March to hold a session to discuss the five no-confidence motions against Judicial Council members, elected by MPs. The five members of the Judicial Council have responded to the no-confidence motions, Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi told a press briefing Friday.

The Judicial Council members’ responses to the no-confidence motions will be sent to MPs in the coming days.

Answering a journalist’s question, Gashi said Parliament hasn’t received the government’s letter regarding Public Prosecutor Ljupcho Kocevski.

As to whether Parliament will take actions following the Constitutional Court’s notification involving changes to the criminal code and the law on electronic communications, Gashi said the legislative house hasn’t received any notification. If there is any, he said, I will forward the notifications to the MPs and laws will be amended in case they propose changes.

“Parliament is yet to receive any notification or a letter from the Constitutional Court, which is why we are not able to comment anything further,” stated the Speaker.

No chair has been appointed yet to the labor and social policy committee after MP Ilire Dauti lost a no-confidence vote. Gashi said he will wait a little longer until the European Front coalition nominates a chairperson.
