Skopje, 10 June 2024 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi met Monday with the Swiss Ambassador to North Macedonia Véronique Hulmann, who reaffirmed Switzerland's support for North Macedonia’s Euro-integration process.

According to Parliament, at the meeting Gashi voiced satisfaction over the political relations between the two countries, which, he said, “are characterized by friendship and understanding, as well as open dialogue”. 

The Speaker also highlighted the work of the Swiss Government in cooperation with the Swiss Embassy to North Macedonia, which “continues to ensure a more efficient and more transparent functioning of Parliament”.

Congratulating Gashi on his election as Speaker, Ambassador Hulmann voiced gratitude over the meeting, as well as expectations that the new parliamentary composition will work with commitment to fulfill the country’s strategic goal of full-fledged membership in the European Union.

“Ambassador Hulmann voiced hope that the excellent cooperation between the two countries will continue in the future, and on several levels. She reiterated the firm support for the country’s Euro-integration process, noting that the place of North Macedonia and of the other Balkan countries is in the EU,” Parliament said.
