Gala opening of Ohrid Summer Festival 2025

Ohrid, 12 July 2025 (MIA) - American pianist Claire Huangci together with the orchestra of the Macedonian Philharmonic and groundbreaking conductor Edwin Outwater will open the 65th edition of the Ohrid Summer Festival at the Ancient Theater on Saturday.
As always, special content of exceptional quality is selected for the festival's opening ceremony, and this year, too, classical music lovers will be able to enjoy a special artistic experience, a musical-visual journey with impressive state-of-the-art visuals by designer Rafael Carrico.
The days to follow bring exceptional artistic events in the fields of music, theatre, ballet, and visual art experiences in Ohrid, with artists from all over the world, including pianists Mikhail Pletnev and Lukas Vondracek, violinists Vadim Gluzman and Jack Liebeck, cellist Daniel Muller Schott, castanets artist Lucera Teno in a duo with harpist Javier de Maestre, and many others.

The festival's program also features a theatre play for children, a jazz concert by Macedonian artist Damjan Pejchinovski, as well as a performance by the National Jazz Orchestra with world-famous musician Seun Kuti.
On August 3, a spectacle performance of the concert Carmina Burana Symphony of Beats will be staged with more than 70 artists on stage.
Unforgettable moments with renowned theatre productions and two premieres are also featured in the program. Among other things, theatre lovers this year will have the opportunity to see the most awarded play of the year, the Macedonian National Theatre's production "12". The theatre play- monodrama “Every Brilliant Thing” with Macedonian actor Igor Angelov will create a truly memorable experience for the audience. This year, the program will feature two premieres produced by the Turkish Theatre from Skopje and the Drama Theatre from Skopje.
The festival will close with a European premiere of the theatre play “Electra” by Sasho Dimoski, directed by Dejan Projkovsi, a co-production of the Theatre association of
Korea (Seoul) and the Ohrid Summer Festival.
The Ohrid Summer Festival is held under the auspices of the President, financially backed by the Ministry of Culture, the local self-government, as well as numerous sponsors, donors and friends.
