Free Zones Authority sees more jobs, higher paychecks

Skopje, 9 December 2023 (MIA) — Employment and salaries in the country's Technological Industrial Development Zones continue to rise, according to a Free Zones Authority release saying the number of workers this November rose by 10 percent since last November to reach 17,926.

 

The total number of Free Zones workers in November 2023 was also 29 percent higher than November 2021 and 31 percent higher than November 2020, the release points out.

 

It adds that over 1,600 workers were employed by Free Zones companies in 2023 alone, and their average gross salary was higher than Mden 60,000, twice as high as in 2016.

 

This growth trend was expected to continue, the release notes, given that Free Zones contracts worth EUR 450 million were signed in 2023, creating a total of 7,500 new jobs. mr/
