Skopje, 16 January 2025 (MIA) - The President of the Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia, Mendi Qyra, said Thursday he can’t guarantee there won’t be changes in the prices of products after the end of the New Year’s consumer basket campaign, stressing that the prices will be determined by the free market.
Qyra said the Chamber believes the free market should operate under normal conditions, noting they would support a similar campaign in the future if the need arises.
“If this is implemented again, we will have the same position we had a month or so ago. We will insist that the prices of the main, basic products in the basket are reduced, as was the case from December 15 to January 15. In the period between the two campaigns, if there are no other measures, the prices will be determined by the free market, and they will likely rise. That’s the free market, and we don’t meddle in that,” Qyra said in answer to a journalist’s question.
