France's health authority recommends booster vaccination from age 40
Paris, 20 November 2021 (dpa/MIA) — France's top health authority now recommends a booster vaccination against the coronavirus for people aged 40 and over. An evaluation of international studies showed that a booster vaccination six months after full immunization is already beneficial for people over 40, the health authority announced in Paris on Friday. The authority referred particularly to good empirical data from Israel and the United States, explaining that there was not yet enough data available to make a recommendation for even younger people. In France, over-65s have been eligible for a booster vaccination for some time, and around 30 percent have already received one. As of Dec. 15, this vaccination is a prerequisite for the coronavirus pass for people 65 and older whose second vaccination was given six months or more ago. The pass is required to visit restaurants and attend events in France or travel by plane or long-distance train. From Dec. 1, people aged 50 and over can also register for a booster vaccination in France.
