Former SEC president Oliver Derkoski acquitted

Skopje, 14 July 2023 (MIA) - The Skopje-based Criminal Court acquitted on Friday the former president of the State Election Commission (SEC), Oliver Derkoski, who was accused of "abuse of power and authority."

In addition to Derkoski, three other SEC employees and one manager of an economic operator who were accused of "abuse of power and authority" during implementation of public procurements, which damaged the Budget in the amount of Mden 1,312,409, or EUR 21,000, were also acquitted.

The Council decided the public prosecutor has not proven beyond reasonable doubt that the defendants committed the crimes for which they were charged.

According to the indictment, the three SEC employees, as members of the Commission for Public Procurement have not respected the minimum legal deadline for submitting bids, have not established that the economic operator DUNA DOO Skopje had not met conditions for participation in the procedure, and have not implemented a proper procedure for evaluating the submitted bids, but evaluated the offer as acceptable and assigned it the maximum number of points.

The trial was led by Judge Ilija Tpkov. ssh/nn/
