FM Osmani takes part in UN peacekeeping ministerial forum
Skopje, 7 December 2021 (MIA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani took part on Tuesday in the online United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial, organized by Korean Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong and Defense Minister Suh Wook, alongside UN Secretary-General António Guterres. In his address, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release, Osmani reaffirmed North Macedonia’s commitment to multilateral cooperation, one of its top priorities in regard to foreign policy, which includes cooperation as part of UN peacekeeping operations. “North Macedonia is fully committed to boosting participation in UN peacekeeping missions, by strengthening and training capacities, putting special focus on equal participation of women in peacekeeping processes and prevention,” Osmani noted. He underlined that North Macedonia fully supports reforms undertaken by UN Secretary-General Guterres aimed at enhancing the efficiency of peacekeeping operations, an important instrument for strengthening global peace and security. During the session on sustaining peace, the press release read, participants expressed strong support for preventive diplomacy as foundation for building sustainable peace and stable societies.
