FM Osmani meets UK Special Envoy Peach

Skopje, 7 March 2023 (MIA) - Foreign Minister and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Bujar Osmani met Tuesday with the UK Special Envoy to the Western Balkans, Lord Stuart Peach, exchanging views on the course of the EU negotiations and processes at home in this context. 

 

Peach reiterated the necessity of finalizing the constitutional amendments in order to trace the country's EU integration path with an accelerated dynamics, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release. 

 

Minister Osmani thanked for the consistent British support in that regard, highlighting the high degree of cooperation between the two countries and NATO allies. 

 

As OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Osmani briefed his interlocutor on current developments in terms of the country's OSCE Chairpersonship, activities implemented as well as future activities planned through the prism of priorities set, among which Ukraine is a top priority. 

 

Participants in the meeting, adds the press release, also discussed regional dynamics, agreeing that North Macedonia is perceived as a country exporting stability in the region, among other things, by presiding over two important regional initiatives this year, the US-Adriatic Charter (A5) and the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECC).

 

In addition, interlocutors welcomed the progress achieved in Brussels in terms of normalization of Kosovo-Serbia ties, which is a significant step in the interest of the entire Western Balkan region, said the Foreign Ministry.
