FM Osmani meets EC's von der Leyen
Skopje, 14 July 2022 (MIA) - Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani met Thursday with European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen during her visit to Skopje.
Thanking her for her visit, Osmani underlined that the European Commission has always been a reliable partner on the country's EU integration path objectively analyzing the situation and the progress made reported in progress reports on the country. The support, he added, will continue further with the official opening of the accession negotiations through the screening process.
"This visit comes at the right time as the comprehensive consultation process over the proposal of the French presidency is being concluded. We consider your address in Parliament today an important contribution in the process and a support in resuming our EU integration process," Osmani said as cited by the Foreign Ministry.
It is the second time in the country's history, Minister Osmani mentioned, that a Commission President will address our assembly. "The first time it was Romano Prodi at the very start of our EU integration path to mark the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement and now at the very start of the negotiations, the final stage before we become a full-fledged member of the EU," said the press release.
