FM Osmani announces successful completion of temporary shelter mission for Afghans
Skopje, 31 August 2022 (MIA) - Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani posted on Facebook that the last family of eight from Afghanistan that had been hired by NATO and sheltered in North Macedonia has left the country on Wednesday, marking a successful end to the mission for providing temporary shelter to Afghans transferred from the Bechtel base in Kosovo. "Continuous help and support was provided to them during their stay in North Macedonia as a result of the efficient and wide inter-institutional cooperation, as well as the Red Cross's involvement, so I'd like to take this time to thank everyone involved in the successful realization of the process," he said. We've once again proven ourselves to be credible NATO partners by providing temporary shelter to a total of 68 Afghans, Osmani stated adding it had contributed to taking up much of the burden of NATO troops deployed to the Kosovo base in order to be able to be engaged in full-capacity in NATO's eastern flank given the threats that the member states there are under as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
