FM Mucunski in Mala Prespa: Strengthening ties with diaspora through concrete projects

Skopje, 3 July 2025 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski, accompanied by Ministry of Interior Panche Toshkovski and Minister of Culture Zoran Ljutkov, paid Wednesday a visit to the Mala Prespa region and Pustec municipality, the home of the Macedonian minority in Albania.

The ministers met with the local population and attended the formal opening of festival "Macedonian Cultural Summer", said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

"Mala Prespa and Pustec are a living proof that ethnic and cultural diversity are not divisive but unifying. Thanks to the official status of the Macedonian language, the bilingual education, the active diplomatic and cross-border support by the Government, along with the commitment of the local population, the Macedonian community in Albania has managed to preserve its uniqueness, foster the ties with the country of origin and build bridges between the two countries," FM Mucunski wrote in a Facebook post.

At the meetings with Macedonians from Albania, Mucunski heard their challenges and said the state support would not be only declarative.

"We will continue to strengthen the ties of the diaspora with the homeland through concrete projects and activities. This is the only way to foster and pass on the Macedonian history, culture and tradition in this part of the Balkans," said Mucunski.
