Five arrested in connection with disappearance of 14-year-old Vanja

Skopje, 2 December 2023 (MIA) - Five people have been arrested in connection with the case of the disappearance of the 14-year-old girl Vanja, Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski said Saturday during his visit to Kumanovo, responding to journalists' questions about progress in the investigation into the girl's case.

"I must mention that we have arrested five people and seized one vehicle, progressing actively with our efforts. This is an additional development in terms of evidence, a lead we are pursuing, all aimed at bringing clarity to this case," Spasovski said.

"We will share the facts established through these investigative measures with the public at the right time, as premature disclosure creates issues for us," emphasized Spasovski.

The Interior Minister thanked the media for their objective reporting and the fight against fake news spreading on social media.

Vanja Gjorchevska went missing on Monday morning around 07:20 am on her way to school. Her phone's last location has been traced to Partizanska street opposite the Universal Hall in downtown Skopje.

The police published a photo of Vanja Gjorchevska along with a description in the missing persons bulletin, and the Interpol issued a yellow notice.

Media in the region reported her missing, and her photo is also shared on social media.
