First-ever ‘Italian Sports Day in the World’ celebrated in Skopje

Skopje, 29 September 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Sport Borko Ristovski attended the first-ever “Italian Sports Day in the World,” held Sunday at the Military Stadium in Skopje's City Park, organized by the Italian Embassy.

According to the Ministry of Sports, the event has been promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in cooperation with the Italian Ministry of Sport and the Italian National Olympic Committee, aiming to highlight the positive values of sports, which also serve as a useful tool for enhancing cooperation and dialogue between nations.

"Thank you for inviting me to be part of this project aimed at promoting Italian sports. I'm particularly happy that we succeeded in getting the Italian Embassy to focus more on sports and less on wine and cuisine. It is both an honor and a pleasure to participate in this event today, especially because it includes young people who have chosen to integrate sports into their lives. As the Ministry of Sport and for me as the responsible minister, it is of great importance that we can work together to promote true values. This is meaningful not just for the young kids here today, but for everyone in the world of sports to become not only athletes, but genuine individuals who love their country, respect their people, and nurture real values. The Ministry of Sport will always be part of and support events like this," Ristovski said.

The Italian Ambassador to the country, Andrea Silvestri, emphasized in his address that this year’s edition of the “Italian Sports Day in the World” is placing special focus on football.

"This is a chance to enhance the importance of sports, to foster friendship between our nations, also through cheering. Have a great time, long live football and the promotion of sports," highlighted the Italian Ambassador, Andrea Silvestri, in his opening address.

Today’s gathering included presentations of the Macedonian fan clubs supporting Italian teams and the launch of the 'Calcio Tricolore' fans association.
