First gov’t session to be held by week’s end, drafting of law on linear increase of pensions to begin: PM

Shtip, 24 June 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski told reporters Monday the Government would hold its first session towards the end of the week to adopt several decisions, most of which, he said, would be formal. The Prime Minister also announced that work is set to begin on new legislation for a linear increase of pensions.

Responding to media questions after his visit to Shtip on his first day as Prime Minister, Mickoski said the new Government would build where its predecessors left “unsuccessful projects”.

“There won’t be dualisms, nor officials who will be living off the money of the citizens, there will be a reduction of the institutions, we will be what we promised. The citizens did enough, now the fatherland needs to work for them. ‘The citizens above all’ will be the motto of our Government,” Mickoski said.

Mickoski stated that he would meet with the Minister of Social Policy, Demographics and Youth, Fatmir Limani, and the Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrievska-Kochovska in the coming days to discuss legislation for the increase of pensions.

“The first government session will be held by the end of the week. Several decisions will be adopted, most of them formal, but we are also beginning to work on new legislation for a linear increase of pensions, as we promised in the election campaign – a linear increase of Mden 5.000 in the first year. Tomorrow or after tomorrow we will meet with the Minister of Social Policy, Demographics and Youth, Fatmir Limani, and the Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrievska-Kochovska, we are starting to draft this law which will soon be submitted to Parliament. The new Government will build wherever its predecessors left unsuccessful projects and monuments of a bad, corrupt era,” Mickoski underlined.

In Shtip, Mickoski attended a groundbreaking ceremony of a new sports hall, inspected construction works on a new boulevard in the town, and inspected the condition in the hospital in Shtip alongside Health Minister Arben Taravari.
