Thessaloniki, 5 August 2024 (MIA) - The road from Thessaloniki to the Evzoni border crossing has been reopened, while the road for the opposite direction is still closed due to a fire, the Greek police said on Monday.
According to local Greek media, the fire has been contained. A vehicle has caught fire on the motorway in the early hours of the morning and the blaze spread to the dry grass, which prompted the police to close traffic in both directions.
This has caused a standstill on the Evzoni-Bogorodica border crossing, as the Greek police redirected vehicles to the border crossing with Dojran, where a long line of vehicles proceeded to form.
According to the camera footage of the Public Enterprise for State Roads, entry into Greece through the Bogorodica border crossing is currently taking place in three or four lines. ssh/nn/
