Skopje, 4 September 2024 (MIA) - Justice Minister Igor Filkov met Wednesday with British Ambassador Matthew Lawson, discussing bilateral cooperation, support for projects related to judiciary reforms, fight against organized crime and realization of strategic objectives towards full-fledged EU membership.

Minister Filkov said there is a long road ahead for implementation of reforms in the Judicial Council, Council of Public Prosecutors and the Academy of Judges and Prosecutors, in order to restore citizens' trust in the sector, the Ministry of Justice said in a press release.

Ambassador Lawson expressed readiness for UK's expert assistance in order to strengthen the country's capacities in key areas.

The United Kingdom continues to be the country's strategic partner, including through NATO and bilateral cooperation in all fields of mutual interest, reads the press release.
