Filkov in Podgorica: North Macedonia and Montenegro enhance cooperation in judicial reforms

Skopje, 6 March 2026 (MIA) - Minister of Justice Igor Filkov met with Montenegrin counterpart Bojan Božović in Podgorica, reaffirming strong commitment to deepening cooperation in the area of the rule of law, independence of the judiciary and the implementation of reforms in the judicial system, in the context of the European integration process, Filkov's Office said in a press release.

Participants in the meeting particularly highlighted promoting bilateral cooperation between Montenegro and the Republic of North Macedonia, noting that relations between the two countries are characterized by friendship, mutual trust and ongoing support in areas of mutual interest. 
Filkov and Božović also mentioned previous meetings and the cooperation results, pointing out that there is room to deepen cooperation, especially through intensifying the exchange of experience, good practices and institutional cooperation within reform processes and alignment with the European acquis.

Interlocutors underlined that cooperation between the two countries is a significant contribution to the region's stability and European perspective, expressing a common will to further intensify bilateral relations in the area of justice, reads the press release.
