Skopje, 11 October 2024 (MIA) - SDSM leader Venko Filipche sends Friday a message in a video address to citizens on the occasion of October 11, the National Uprising Day, where he draws a parallel between the partisan struggle for freedom and an independent state in 1941 and the current challenges facing citizens and the state.
"Today, our citizens and our state once again, as they did then, find themselves facing new battles and historic decisions. While the struggle back then was for freedom and human rights, today's battles are for a stable, integrated, and prosperous Macedonia. We can best achieve our prosperity by being integrated with our European allies as a full and equal member of the European Union," Filipche stated in his address.
Regrettably, Filipche notes, the current government is the first Macedonian government that deliberately gives up the country's European future, which has been the goal of many generations. He added that EU membership is a strategic objective, and no one should be allowed to deprive citizens of this right.
Filipche also noted that SDSM remains with the citizens and on the right side of history, convinced that this is the only way to ensure victory. "May the victorious spirit of October 11 guide us in all the battles and decisions ahead," Filipche noted.
